Lieux mêmes – Les cicatrices du paysage
Photographs by Bertrand Carrière
May 30th, 2015 - June 21st, 2015
Espace Saint-Pierre des Minimes – Compiègne
Carried out between 2005 and 2009, in France and Belgium, this project by Canadian photographer Bertrand Carrière aims to look for the traces that World War I left on the landscape. Travelling along the Western Front – from the Somme valley, Picardy, Artois in northern France to Belgium and the vast fields of Flanders, Carrière hope to find the light in these formerly devastated landscapes, steeped in blackness.
Presented in the Espace Saint-Pierre des Minimes in Compiègne, a former church dating from the twelfth century, this exhibition is supported by the Mission centenaire 14-18 label.
